want need sponsorships.
Digital Marketers, with a focus on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) want links to their clients websites.
Let’s start talking about how we can all help each other.
What are links?
“A hyperlink (usually just called a link) is a way for users to navigate between pages on the internet. Search engines use links to crawl the web; they will crawl the links between the individual pages on your website, and they will crawl the links between entire websites.” Moz.
But that’s not all. Links are widely regarded as one of the main ranking factors that help websites rank on search engines.
Given their importance to businesses there is a whole industry of people seeking out opportunities for websites to link back to their website… and some are willing to pay.
How Sports Clubs can Attract More Sponsorships?
First things first. You need a website.
Not got one?
Ask us about our web design service.
Got one? Great
You’ll need to at least create a sponsorship page on your website. Here you can advertise your sponsorship opportunities and host the links back to your sponsors websites.
Better yet for companies looking for links, you could offer a dedicated blog post talking about the company on your website. This could either be a text based interview with the owner of the sponsors company, or just a basic press release with quotes from officials from both parties.
Better yet, and a great way to attract even more businesses is to offer regular social media posts from your sports clubs social media accounts thanking your sponsors with links to either their socials or their website.
Aren’t advertising boards by the pitch enough?
Advertising boards are great- offer them as part of your package too.
But if you want to attract more businesses that are not die hard fans of your sports clubs you need to be offering more than a vanity board.
Businesses want more customers. Social media posts and potential first page google rankings bring that. A board next to a pitch that no more than 50 people see every other Saturday is unlikely to bring that.
Of course, not all businesses want, what I’m proposing. Some just want International tickets, or to reduce their tax burden but it’s prudent to cater for all.
I run a business. How do I find these sponsorship opportunities?
Great question. You could just ask those clubs that are local to you if they offer this service. Or, if you are not too fussy you could run the searches below through google
city “sponsor us”
i.e. Cardiff “sponsor us”.
In somewhere like Wales you may want to run this search for smaller town or even do it for South Wales/North Wales/West Wales. Whatever gets the job done really.
If you are not really feeling doing it yourself, ask us about our SEO services and we can do it for you.
This is a very simple way in which businesses and sports clubs can really help each other out in these uncertain times.
